Our extension does not collect, store, or use any personal information from its users. The data you provide (such as job descriptions and resumes) is used solely for the purpose of generating cover letters and is not stored permanently by the extension.

Permissions

To function properly, our extension requests the following permissions:

  • activeTab: Allows the extension to interact with the currently active tab in your browser. This permission is needed to enable you to select job descriptions directly from any website with ease.
  • storage: Enables the extension to store settings and preferences locally on your device. This permission is needed to apply limits on the number of times you can generate cover letters using the extension each day.
  • scripting: Allows the extension to execute scripts in the context of web pages you visit. These scripts enable us to store copied job descriptions temporarily for further processing.
  • contextMenus: Lets the extension add items to the context menu in the browser. This feature allows you to copy job descriptions from web pages directly to the extension using the context menu.

How We Use Your Information

  • Job Description: The Chrome extension allows you to select and copy job descriptions from job sites.
  • Resume: You can copy and paste relevant sections of your resume, such as Experience, Skills, Academic Details, etc., into the Chrome extension. You dont need to paste any personal information like phone number, address, email, etc., as it is not needed to generate the cover letter.
  • Cover Letter Generation: The uploaded resume and selected job description are used to create cover letters. This data is passed on to the third-party OpenAI API for generating cover letters. Please note that the data sent through the API is not used for training purposes. Data Security

We prioritize your data security and ensure that no personal data is collected, stored, or transmitted by our extension. Rest assured, we do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Third-Party API

Our extension uses the third-party OpenAI API to generate personalized cover letters. Please note that:

  • As of March 1st, 2023, OpenAI retains customer API data for 30 days but no longer uses customer data sent via the API to improve its models.
